Annual “Paving the Way” Scholarship Fundraiser

On February 25th, the Undergraduate Women in Business hosted the 7th Annual Paving the Way Scholarship Fundraiser Banquet. This year, the event took place on campus at the newly renovated UW HUB, allowing both alumni and UW fans to come back to campus and enjoy the event in the beautiful South Ballroom. 142 people, comprised of UWiB members and volunteers, UW faculty and staff, professionals from the Seattle business community, friends, family, and our very special Keynote Speaker of the night, Jane Park, joined us for an evening of celebration for women in leadership. Jane Park is the CEO and Founder of Julep Beauty, Inc., a local beauty e-commerce business in the Seattle area. Jane spoke to UWiB’s guests about the realities of being both a CEO and a mother, while inspiring everyone with her positive outlook on life and the future. UWiB could not have asked for a better speaker to motivate UWiB members to become the next generation of future female business leaders. We were also thrilled to be able to give a $2,000 scholarship to a more than deserving member, Sarina Lim, who was a crucial part in making last year’s event a tremendous success. Through hard work from our members and generosity from local Seattle businesses, UWiB received 55 items and 19 cakes as donations for the silent auction and dessert dash. During the event, UWiB made an astounding $5,361.87 from the silent auction and over $2,500 from dessert dash. In total, UWiB was able to raise $12,602.07 for our endowed scholarship fund. All of our success would not have been possible without our supporters and wonderful volunteers, and especially our amazing sponsors. The 7th Annual Paving the Way Scholarship Fundraiser Banquet was a huge success, and it has helped UWiB to be one step closer to our ultimate goal of fully funding a UWiB member’s full UW tuition.
